Founded in 1948, the Vallabh Government College Mandi popularly known as VGC.The institution aspires to provide affordable quality education to the diverse strata of population including the poorest and weakest sections of the area; and create an environment conducive to the achievement of the highest standards of academic excellence along with multi-faceted development of personality of the students, transforming them into socially aware and responsible citizens of the country. Mission/Institutional Development Plan (IDP)

  • To strengthen the academic environment through high quality and creative instruction at the undergraduate, professional and postgraduate levels.
  • To Generate new knowledge for dealing with the immediate and long-range needs of society by adopting measures of self-evaluation, accountability and innovations.
  • To inculcate the sense of responsibility, the spirit of social service and communal harmony particularly among the students and the society.
  • To participate extensively in state wide and national academic, cultural and sports programs to provide exposure to our students.
  • To encourage other educational institutions of local and state level to seek benefit from the college’s unique educational resources, faculty and staff expertise.

The Institutional development plan (IDP) of VGC Mandi has definitive objectives that are intended to facilitate the implementation of provisions of the National Education Policy- 2020. The plan is broadly aimed at making the functioning of the college decentralized, accountable, transparent, efficient and amicable to the change. The detailed objectives of this IDP are:

  • To augment the educational infrastructures for integration of humanities, Science, and technology.
  • To initiate a variety of interdisciplinary, value-added, skill enhancement courses.
  • To ensure delivery of Outcome Based Education.
  • To facilitate the use of technology for curricular planning and delivery
  • To develop a research ecosystem that addresses issues related to the environment, agriculture, and industry.
  • To adopt responsive and accountable administration and management.
  • To provide a Green and Divyang-friendly campus.
  • To encourage topic-centred student clubs that work for the promotion of culture, values, languages, and fine art apart from other realms of human ingenuity.
  • To provide opportunities for skill enhancement, including technical and vocational skills, for employment and entrepreneurship.
  • To ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable lifestyles, global citizenship, and appreciation of cultural diversity
